Cars in Germany's City Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police reported they were notified by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau covered with reddish fluid

Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.

Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located numerous other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials stated they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the community for tips.

A senior official stated the incident made him without words and required to be solved quickly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
